All-in-One 4 HER

Fast-track Integration of Highly Educated Refugees (HER)

Development of an accelerated integration model for highly educated newcomers to the Flemish labor market

Project description

All-in-one 4 HER is a project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Flemish government. It aims to develop an accelerated integration model for highly educated refugees in the Flemish labor market.

All-in-one 4 HER tackles the challenge of reducing the employment gap between natives and migrants in Flanders, which is above the EU average. Research shows that this gap widens as education levels rise. Specifically, refugees are one of the most vulnerable groups of migrants in the labor market. Not only is only one in four refugees employed in the first five years after arrival, but a large proportion of highly educated refugees appear to be overqualified for their jobs.

The all-in-one 4 HER project is developing tools aimed at providing highly skilled newcomers with information early and effectively through a Welcome Application, and supporting them in finding their way in the labor market. This involves a one-stop information platform, career coaching, and professional mentoring. All of this is being developed based on action research with relevant stakeholders: Flemish government organizations, employers, and highly skilled refugees. The project's international scope allows for the integration of best practices from other European countries and regions.
